We have appointed David Maytham as Interim Headteacher.
He takes over from Arthur Barzey, who has left after 8 years to pursue new opportunities in education.
David is a highly experienced senior leader who knows the school well and is already working closely with the leadership team to support a smooth transition.
David said:
“Our school is a diverse, inclusive community where every student is known, supported, and encouraged to achieve their best. We are committed to high standards of behaviour, strong teaching, and a culture where learning, respect, and ambition come first.”
You can read the letter announcing David’s appointment here.

Ten of our Year 4 pupils recently took part in the Write2Speak showcase at the Dugdale Arts Centre, performing alongside children from other local schools.
Write2Speak deliver spoken-word workshops that help young people express themselves, explore meaningful topics and share their own voice.
After a series of workshops in school, our pupils stood on stage and shared their spoken-word pieces with confidence, clarity and so much heart. They were a real credit to our school, and their families were incredibly proud.
Thank you to our staff for supporting the pupils, and to all the parents who came along to cheer them on.

Congratulations to Roni in Year 12, who has been awarded the prestigious Jack Petchey Achievement Award. The award celebrates young people who show outstanding effort and make a positive contribution to school life.
Roni was unanimously chosen by his peers, who praised his professionalism, commitment and hard work.
In a generous gesture, he has chosen to split the £300 award between the Geography department and the Sixth Form to support resources that will benefit other students.
Well done, Roni, on this well-deserved recognition.

A group of 25 Year 9 students spent the day at the prestigious University of Oxford. The visit was all about opening doors and expanding horizons.
Students toured Balliol College, one of the oldest colleges in the English-speaking world, and took part in an English Literature masterclass led by an Oxford PhD student. They showed real confidence and thoughtful engagement throughout.
This was far more than a day trip. It gave students powerful knowledge and experiences that can help shape their future.

Our Headteacher recently met with the local authority to discuss road safety near the school, joined by our Head Boy and Head Girl, Mohammed and Nisha.
Officers shared six planning options, and both pupils offered thoughtful ideas and feedback during the discussion.
The next step will involve monitoring traffic flow, with formal consultation expected after the local elections.
A positive step forward on an issue that matters to our community.
